About the event

Butternut  squash season is upon us and we have been challenged to make 500  servings of a diabetic friendly dish for the Culpeper Free Clinic and  local food banks with a heavy harvest from the Fauquier Education Farm.   We will make a Creamy Butternut Squash and White Bean Soup for this  event

This event will be held on Friday, October 18 from 9  AM – 11:30 AM at the Carver Food Enterprise Center (9432 N. James  Madison Hwy. Rapidan, VA 22733) and is open to anyone age 18 and up with  basic knife skills.

During this event, participants will  be engaged in chopping, cooking, portioning, and cleaning tasks to make  the Butternut Squash Soup alongside our guest chef, David Curlis of Refresh Kitchen.  Participants will also learn how adverse childhood experiences affect  dietary patterns with Shannon Simpson from Virginia Tech Population  Health Sciences.   This session can inform strategies for better health outcomes in ourselves and for others in our community.
