Pho Feeding 500
We will be making Pho with Hai Nguyen of Hi Food Today on June 20 and 21.
Time & Location
Jun 20, 2024, 7:00 AM – Jun 21, 2024, 3:00 PM
Rapidan, 9432 N James Madison Hwy, Rapidan, VA 22733, USA
About the event
We have received a donation of bones from the Fauquier 4-H Livestock Show and Sale that we will be turning into Pho on 6/20 and 21. On 6/20, we are looking for some volunteers in the morning and evening to help make the broth for the soup. The morning shift will be from 7 AM – 9 AM and that crew will help with initial blanching of the bones and preparing herbs and vegetables for the broth. The evening shift will be from 5 PM – 8 PM and that crew will help strain, cool, and portion broth and meat into containers and help with final clean up. We will be working with guest chef Hai Nguyen of Hi Foods Today (you may have seen her at the Warrenton or Haymarket farmers market where she sells egg rolls and Banh Mi). The following day, students from the Rappahannock Pathways Program will be prepping and portioning the other soup ingredients. All of these soups will be donated to local food banks, and if you have a big cooler, we could also use a couple folks to help transport soups to their final food bank destinations around 2 PM on 6/21. This will be a fun way to help out the community while also learning some Vietnamese cooking techniques. Please sign up at the link below if you would like to help.
